Following on Ryan Wood’s performance in the opening practice session, Andre Heimgartner has completed a clean-sweep for the New Zealanders on Friday at the betr Darwin Triple Crown.
Heimgartner placed the R&J Batteries Racing Chevrolet Camaro fastest on a 1m 06.630s to lead earlier pace-setter Wood to the tune of 0.065s.
Will Brown led the Red Bull Ampol Racing charge in third ahead of TRADIE Energy Racing’s David Reynolds, local Bryce Fullwood in the Middy’s Racing Camaro and Monster Castrol Racing’s Cam Waters.
Reynolds’ teammate Anton De Pasquale was seventh for DEWALT Racing from championship leader Broc Feeney, Jaxon Evans for SCT Motorsport and Macauley Jones made it four Brad Jones Racing entries in the top 10 for Pizza Hut.
Rookie Cooper Murray was 11th from Chaz Mostert, Matt Payne, Brodie Kostecki, Will Davison and James Courtney fresh from a podium in Perth.
There were some moments during the session including Cam Hill sending it down the escape road at Turn 1, Wood did likewise, Reynolds went off at the next big stop at Turn 5 and James Golding ran wide approaching the final corner.
It’s an early start for the Repco Supercars Championship to kick off Saturday’s action when qualifying begins at 8:35am ACST or 9:05am AEST.
