Championship leader Broc Feeney completed a perfect round at the Darwin Triple Crown to win Race 19 and further bolster his title lead.
Feeney led from start-to-finish in a repeat of the earlier races as he dominated the final race at Hidden Valley Raceway to win from Penrite Racing duo Kai Allen and Matt Payne.
Key title rival Cam Waters endured a disastrous race after a mistake during his pit stop led to the wheel departing company with three laps to go and ended the event in last place.
Feeney became the first driver in the round’s history to win all three races and holds a whopping 183-point margin in the championship standings to Red Bull Ampol Racing’s Will Brown, while Payne now is only a further 19 in arrears.
Another contender in Chaz Mostert was dealing with a transmission problem and had to start from the pit lane dropping him to the back of the field.
Feeney won the start from Erebus Motorsport’s Jack Le Brocq, Mobil 1 Truck Assist Racing’s Ryan Wood and the Dewalt Racing Chevrolet Camaro of Anton De Pasquale.
Brad Jones Racing pair Andre Heimgartner and Macauley Jones tangled after making the Top 10 Shootout on the exit of Turn 1 dropping multiple positions each.
It was Feeney soon taking the race away from his competition by building a 2.2s gap to Le brooch ahead Wood, De Pasquale, Payne, Allen, Supaglass Racing’s Cam Hill, Brown, the lead Shell V-Power Racing Team’s Brodie Kostecki and Heimgartner.
Payne was the first of the leaders to pit on lap 16 and the undercut proved valuable as he led briefly before Feeney overtook with fresher tyres.
Having taken note of the undercut earlier, the Dewalt Racing crew bought De Pasquale in on lap 41 for his second and final stop, but Le Brocq came out ahead.
Payne pitted six laps later to cover off Le Brocq, while teammate Allen stopped 11 laps from the end. The rookie emerged behind both Payne and Le Brocq, but the former was picked off after one lap leaving his teammate to be passed in the closing stages.
Feeney was bought in with nine laps remaining and a perfect stop placed him in fresh air as he completed what may be a title defining round.
Behind the podium finishers, Le Brocq fell short of breaking Erebus Motorsport’s rostrum duck from Brown, Heimgartner, De Pasquale, Wood, Hill and Territorian Bryce Fullwood completed the top 10 for Middy’s Racing.
Kostecki, Mostert in a charging drive, Cooper Murray, Jones, David Reynolds and Nick Percat all missed the top 10.
It was a dirty day for Tickford Racing as Thomas Randle was unable to overcome a poor qualifying to add pain to the problem for Waters.
Will Davison also endured a rough pit stop and was 23rd at the end.
The Repco Supercars Championship now heads to the NTI Townsville 500 on July 11-13.
