Cameron Hill takes top spot in final practice session at Symmons Plains

Matt Stone Racing’s solid affinity with Symmons Plains continued on the third practice session as this time Supaglass Racing’s Cameron Hill topped the timesheets.

Following on from his teammate Nick Percat’s success in Race 17 yesterday, Hill set a 51.173s lap to finish 0.041s clear of Red Bull Ampol Racing’s Broc Feeney.

Brad Jones Racing was also on the improve as all four of its Camaros finished inside the top 10 led by Andre Heimgartner in third for R&J Batteries Racing, with stablemate Bryce Fullwood in the Middy’s Racing example.

Shell V-Power Racing Team’s Will Davison was fifth from Walkinshaw Andretti United duo Chaz Mostert and Ryan Wood, with Erebus Motorsport’s Jack Le Brocq eighth

SCT Motorsport’s Jaxon Evans and Macauley Jones for Pizza Hut Racing completed the top 10.

Anton De Pasquale, Nick Percat, James Courtney, David Reynolds and Matt Payne filled out the next five.

Championship leader Will Brown made set-up changes, while title challenger Mostert went off at Turn 1, but safely recovered.

Tim Slade endured an engine problem to bring his session to a premature end.

Qualifying for Race 18 of the Repco Supercars Championship at Symmons Plains will be held at 12:50pm AEST.
