SCT Motorsport driver Jaxon Evans has led the first practice session of the Bosch Power Tools Perth Super 440 at Carco.com.au Raceway.
First and second year drivers had an extra set of new tyres at their disposal in the first session, with Evans one of those to set a 55.086s lap.
It was a Kiwi 1-2, with Mobil 1 Truck Assist Racing’s Ryan Wood falling 0.359s short of the benchmark set by Evans as Repco Supercars Championship leader Broc Feeney completed the top three for Red Bull Ampol Racing.
Fourth was DEWALT Racing driver Anton De Pasquale from the Snowy River Racing Ford Mustang of James Courtney, the second Red Bull Ampol Racing entry for Will Brown, Chaz Mostert in Mobil 1 Optus Racing and Cam Waters leading the Monster Castrol Racing charge.
Completing the top 10 were Waters’ teammate Thomas Randle and PremiAir Racing’s James Golding.
There was minimal action during the 30-minute session, though David Reynolds toured the large sand trap at Kolb Corner in the TRADIE Energy Racing Camaro only to recover and return to the track.
Courtney also endured a loose moment exiting Turn 5, but it proved only minor.
Names to miss the top 10 included Andre Heimgartner, Wildcard entry Lochie Dalton in 12th, Richie Stanaway, Matt Stone Racing duo Nick Percat and Cam Hill, Matt Payne, Reynolds and Bryce Fullwood.
Both Shell V-Power Racing Team Mustangs were outside the top 20 as Brodie Kostecki led the way in 21st.
The Repco Supercars Championship drivers return to the track at 3:55pm AEST for Practice 2.
