Penrite Racing’s Kai Allen and Matt Payne have led the way in opening practice at the first round of the 2026 Repco Supercars Championship, the Dunlop Sydney 500.
There wasn’t much drama in the session to speak of as teams went in two different strategies, ultimate pace runs for qualifying and long race runs.
Behind the two Penrite Racing Mustangs was PremiAir Racing rookie Jayden Ojeda, Dewalt Racing’s Anton De Pasquale and an impressive Zach Bates for Bendix Racing to round out the top five.
Shell V-Power Racing Team’s Brodie Kostecki was six ahead of the first Red Bull Ampol Racing Mustangs of Will Brown and rookie teammate Rylan Gray.
All three manufacturers were represented in the top 10 courtesy of Chaz Mostert in the Optus Mobil 1 Racing Toyota Supra completing as veteran David Reynolds completed the top runners for Snowy River Racing.
Missing the top 10 were Jack Le Brocq, Cooper Murray, Macauley Jones, Declan Fraser, Broc Feeney, André Heimgartner and Aaron Cameron.
Qualifying begins at 4:20pm AEDT live on Kayo.
