Scott McLaughlin’s Bathurst winning Mustang on display at Penske HQ

Scott McLaughlin maybe an IndyCar star currently, but a nod to his Supercars past is on display at Team Penske’s headquarters in Mooresville, North Carolina.

Dick Johnson Racing’s allegiance with motorsport powerhouse Team Penske was an ultra-successful era and paved the way for McLaughlin to be a frontrunner in the IndyCar Series.

McLaughlin won three Repco Supercars Championships and a Bathurst 1000 in a relationship with DJR Team Penske spanning four years.

In fact, the Mustang on display is DJRTP06, which won 18 of 25 races in 2019 including McLaughlin’s maiden Bathurst victory alongside Alex Premat.

The Mustang’s career came to an end at the very next meeting after McLaughlin rolled it during qualifying on the Gold Coast.

Since restored, DJRTP06 has been displayed in various places including Shell V-Power Motorsport Park.

DJRTP06 was joined by DJRTP07 for the trip to Mooresville, while McLaughlin’s first Repco Supercars Championship winning Ford Falcon FGX is already part of  the collection at Team Penske, DJRTP04.

The Bathurst winning Mustang takes pride of place next to Team Penske’s Porsche Hypercar from the World Endurance Championship and IMSA Sportscar Championship.
