Will Brown takes pole for Tasmanian finale

Reigning champion Will Brown has taken pole position for the final race of the Snowy River Caravans 440 at Symmons Plains.

Last out for the Top 10 Shootout, Brown set a 51.490s to steal pole from Mobil 1 Truck Assist Racing’s Ryan Wood after his team fitted four green tyres.

Cam Waters made the biggest gain from 10th to third in the lead Monster Castrol Racing Mustang, with PremiAir Racing’s James Golding starting alongside as Broc Feeney’s lap was only good enough for fifth.

Golding’s teammate Richie Stanaway was sixth from SCT Motorsport’s Jaxon Evans, Thomas Randle, Erebus Motorsport rookie Cooper Murray and the DEWALT Racing Camaro of Anton De Pasquale completed the top 10.

Qualifying earlier had plenty of surprises starting with Andre Heimgartner, James Courtney, Chaz Mostert and Will Davison all being part of the first six eliminated.

Matt Payne led the runners to just miss the top 10 from David Reynolds, Nick Percat, kai Allen, Bryce Fullwood, Macauley Jones, Cam Hill and Jack Le Brocq.

Overnight, Shell V-Power Racing Team’s two Mustangs were disqualified due to a technical infringement.

The final race of the weekend is due to begin at 2:45pm AEST.
