Defending Repco Supercars Championship winner Will Brown is set to make another NASCAR Cup Series cameo later this year on the Chicago Street Circuit for the Grant Park 165.
This marks the second NASCAR Cup Series start for Brown after making his debut at Sonoma last year for Richard Childress Racing, but despite being quick in qualifying, an electrical problem arose during the race.
Brown will join Kaulig Racing in Chicago featuring back from Peter Adderton’s MobileX in addition to Shaw and Partners.
For his debut last year, former Supercars rival Shane van Gisbergen was his spotter, but Brown will have to compete against the New Zealander, who won at Chicago in 2023 sparking his transition into NASCAR competition.
“After watching SVG win the 2023 Chicago NASCAR race and getting to drive myself at Sonoma last year, I’ve been really keen to have a go at the Grant Park 165,” said Brown.
“The Supercars calendar aligned this year to give me time to get over to Charlotte early to prepare and give the race a crack!
“I have watched Kaulig Racing closely this season and I’m really excited to get behind the wheel of the MobileX and Shaw and Partners Financial Services No. 13!”
Kaulig Racing was the team to field van Gisbergen in last year’s Xfinity Series and a few Cup Series appearances.
Team owner Matt Kaulig is excited to welcome Brown to the team for Chicago.
“This is an amazing opportunity for Kaulig Racing to compete for a win in one of the most prestigious events on the calendar,” said owner Matt Kaulig.
“We are so excited to have Will (Brown) race with us and compete for the trophy. The team is ready, and we know he has the talent.”
Brown will join Kaulig Racing’s full-time drivers Ty Dillon and AJ Allmendinger.
