The Repco D1NZ smoke show arrives to the Tasman region in the South Island for the first time in our 20-year history.
A brand new racetrack specifically built for drifting in a location like no other.
Round 2 will feature both the Pro and Pro Sport categories as well as a host of entries from the Drift South competition so we are expecting this to be an extremely busy event with a large field of cars.
The track itself is a close reincarnation of the track at Baypark Stadium, where the D1NZ Grand Final is held each year. This track offers some great viewing for fans & very close door-to-door battles for the drivers.
Getting to the event..
This event will be a little different to what we normally do, with the venue having only been brought to life in the last 12 months, this will be back to a grassroots feel for the Championship as the remote location offers an incredible backdrop for us to participate in. This, however, does mean that for fans to get to the venue, carpooling is a must, as there is limited parking onsite and you will need the right kind of vehicle to get there.
These are Important factors to understand in your journey.
Getting to the event:
Please allow 45 minutes to 1 hour to get to Kohatu Park from Nelson CBD.
A map of the best route to the venue will be posted on the website in the coming week.
Once you arrive at the turn-off, a 5km forestry road must be driven to get into the venue.
This road is unsuitable for lowered vehicles and we recommend keeping this in mind.
Once you are on-site, there is no mobile phone service and the facilities are vastly different from a regular racetrack.
Please know that you will need to be prepared – We suggest you bring clothing for all weather, especially keeping in mind the temperature during February in the Nelson region.
PLEASE TRY ARRANGE CARPOOLING BEFORE THE EVENT
