Richie Stanaway has set the fastest time in a wet fourth practice session at the Penrite Oil Sandown 500.
Continuing New Zealanders affinity at an extremely wet Sandown, Stanaway set a 1m 14.491s to put the Penrite Racing Ford Mustang at the top of the timesheets.
Just 0.036s off the pace was the Red Bull Ampol Racing Camaro of Broc Feeney and Jamie Whincup, while Mobil 1 Optus Racing’s Chaz Mostert rounded out the top three in the Ford Mustang he’ll share alongside Lee Holdsworth.
Shell V-Power Racing Team’s Will Davison and Kai Allen were fourth from Bryce Fullwood for Middy’s Racing partnered by Jaylyn Robotham.
The all-New Zealand pairing of Ryan Wood and Fabian Coulthard took sixth in the Mobil 1 Truck Assist Racing Ford Mustang ahead of the R&J Batteries Racing Camaro of Andre Heimgartner and Declan Fraser.
Snowy River Racing duo James Courtney and Jack Perkins led reigning champion Brodie Kostecki in the Erebus Motorsport Chevrolet to be also driven by Todd Hazelwood.
Nick Percat and Dylan O’Keeffe in the Bendix Racing Camaro completed the top 10.
Conditions were treacherous at best and many drivers spun off including the Monster Castrol Racing Mustang of Cam Waters and James Moffat, which rotated at Turn 3 to hit softly nudge the fence.
Qualifying is up next as conditions begin to dry at Sandown, before the Repco Supercars Championship at 2:15pm AEST.
