Repco Supercars Championship leader Will Brown will enter qualifying for the Penrite Oil Sandown 500 fastest after finishing on top in the final session.
Conditions had improved as the rain halted leading to a drying surface leaving teams to install the primary driver for the final session before qualifying.
Brown set a 1m 13.086s in the Red Bull Ampol Racing Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 as the circuit continued to dry out during the session.
Penrite Racing duo Richie Stanaway and Matt Payne filled out the top three, with the New Zealander 0.155s off Brown’s pace.
Broc Feeney made it two Red Bull Ampol Racing Camaros in the top four from Mobil 1 Optus Racing’s Chaz Mostert, the PremiAir Nulon Racing Chevrolet of James Golding, the lead Shell V-Power Racing Team Mustang of Anton De Pasquale and Tim Slade.
Will Davison ended final practice in ninth, but his Shell V-Power Racing Team Mustang hit the tyre wall after sliding off at Turn 2.
Jack Le Brocq was 10th for Erebus Motorsport to pip Ryan Wood, Cam Waters, Mark Winterbottom, Nick Percat and Thomas Randle.
Qualifying is up next at 2:05pm AEST before the Top 10 Shootout concludes the action at 5:25pm AEST.
