Warm up prior to The Bend 500 provided a few interesting moments as the Repco Supercars Championship teams completed a final systems check prior to the main event.
Ryan Wood was fastest in the session, which primarily focused on driver changes, brake swaps, fuel stops and the new safety car procedure.
It was Wood setting a 1m 50.596s to top the session in the Mobil 1 Truck Assist Racing Ford Mustang from Lochie Dalton’s Tickford Racing Wildcard entry.
Dalton was involved in an interesting moment when exiting pit lane leading to Shell V-Power Racing Team’s Tony D’Alberto requiring to take avoiding action.
The TRADIE Racing Camaro of David Reynolds was third ahead of Mobil 1 Optus Racing’s Chaz Mostert, with Monster Castrol Racing’s Thomas Randle and Cam Waters following.
Will Brown in the Red Bull Ampol Racing Camaro was seventh from Matt Payne’s Penrite Racing Mustang, Bendix Racing’s Nick Percat and Richie Stanaway for PremiAIr Racing.
Pit stop dramas were prevalent throughout the field including a brake change problem at Penrite Racing and the crew forgetting to close a door on the Supaglass Racing Camaro.
The field now prepares for The Bend 500 at 1:45pm ACST/2:45pm AEST.
