The second practice session in Adelaide for the Repco Supercars Championship proved mixed for the four Finalists as Cam Waters set the pace again.
Waters in the Monster Castrol Racing Ford Mustang set the pace on a 1m 18.788s in a last gasp lap to lead Penrite Racing’s Kai Allen by 0.044s.
Rookie Allen was well back after Thursday’s opening practice session and impressed to top the timesheets within the last minute of running.
Lying behind Waters and Allen was the first Red Bull Ampol Racing Chevrolet Camaro of Broc Feeney as he enters the weekend leading the title race.
Thomas Randle backed up Waters in the second Monster Castrol Racing Mustang to be fourth ahead of Anton De Pasquale for DEWALT Racing.
Penrite Racing’s Matt Payne was sixth ahead of Shell V-Power Racing Team’s Brodie Kostecki, David Reynolds in the TRADIE Racing Camaro, Andre Heimgartner’s R&J Batteries Racing Chevrolet and the second Red Bull Ampol Racing entry of Will Brown.
Finalist Chaz Mostert was 20th for the session after hitting the wall at Turn 8, with work being completed ahead of qualifying to ensure the Mobil 1 Optus Racing Mustang is right.
Wildcard Austin Cindric completed the field in 25th as he continues his learning journey.
Qualifying for Race 32 to be held later in Friday’s schedule will be held at 12:40pm ACDT or 1:10pm AEDT.
