It was double delight for Toyota after Qualifying for Races 14 and 15 of the Repco Supercars Championship at Symmons Plains in Tasmania.
Mixed conditions made the sessions challenging, but the Toyota Supras reigned supreme.
Reigning champion Chaz Mostert secured the first pole of the day by setting a 51.712s in the Mobil 1 Optus Racing Toyota GR Supra, with a 0.026s margin back to DEWALT Racing’s Anton De Pasquale.
Shell V-Power Racing Team’s Brodie Kostecki will lead the Ford attack from third alongside the R&J Batteries Racing Supra of Andre Heimgartner, with David Reynolds rounding out the top five in the Snowy River Racing Camaro.
Cam Hill for Brad Jones Racing is sixth ahead of the first Red Bull Ampol Racing Mustang, Ryan Wood for Mobil 1 Truck Assist Racing as Tickford Racing duo Cam Waters and Thomas Randle completing the top 10.
Eliminated in the first leg of qualifying were Will Brown, Rylan Gray, Matt Payne and Kai Allen.
Maintaining Toyota’s pole position run was Heimgartner ahead of Race 15, the 100th race at Symmons Plains.
The Brad Jones Racing driver set the pace on a 50.865s to lead Payne, Feeney, Wood, Reynolds, Kostecki, Hill, De Pasquale, Brown and PremiAIr Racing’s Jayden Ojeda.
While Payne made a great recovery from one session to the next, teammate Kai Allen put his Penrite Racing Mustang in the fence at the final corner right at the end of the session.
This interrupted many drivers laps as Waters, Gray, Mostert, Randle and James Golding failed to make the top 10.
Race 14 at Symmons Plains is due to start at 1pm AEST.
