The Repco Supercars Championship will return to Phillip Island in 2027 after announcing a five-year deal to host a round of the Finals.
It marks the first time the Repco Supercars Championship will race at the historic venue since 2019 and acts as a replacement for the MotoGP event, which moves to a reconfigured Adelaide Parklands Street Circuit next year.
Promotion will come from the Australian Grand Prix Corporation in a deal that guarantees Phillip Island’s place on the Repco Supercars Championship calendar through to at least 2031.
Supercars Executive Chairman and acting CEO Barclay Nettlefold revealed his excitement in Phillip Island re-joining the calendar.
“As we celebrate 30 years of Supercars in 2027, it feels incredibly fitting to return to Phillip Island, a circuit that formed part of our championship in 1997 and holds a special place in the history of our sport,” Nettlefold said.
“Phillip Island is an iconic venue that has delivered some memorable moments for Supercars, and we’re incredibly excited to bring the championship back and create a new chapter in that history for our fans, teams and drivers.”
A favourite among drivers, Phillip Island was abandoned after the 2019 event after struggling to attract a crowd and high track hire costs.
Phillip Island is expected to take the Finals Series spot held by fellow Victoria venue Sandown slotting between the Gold Coast and Adelaide events.
