Shell V-Power Racing take Race 8 and 9 poles at Albert Park

Anton De Pasquale and Will Davison put a Shell V-Power strangehold on the two qualifying sessions at Albert Park this morning, claiming pole for Races 8 and 9 of the Repco Supercars Championship at Albert Park.

De Pasquale beat team-mate Will Davison to Race 8 pole, while third-placed Shane van Gisbergen was 0.58s off the pace.

David Reynolds continued his strong form with fourth ahead of Tim Slade and James Courtney.

Davison later denied De Pasquale a Friday pole sweep, with the duo forming dual Shell Ford front row lockouts.

“We felt good on the hard tyre yesterday,” De Pasquale said.

“That tyre works really well, but the race will be won on the Soft.

“We’ve got a bit of work to do.”

The Race 8 pole for de Pasquale’s was his second pole of 2022, and first at Albert Park.

Will Davison clinched a second pole of the Beaurepaires Melbourne 400 weekend by the barest of margins.

Davison secured pole for Race 9 at Albert Park, which will be held on Sunday, by just 0.007s.

The veteran, who also scored pole for Race 7 on Thursday, denied teammate Anton De Pasquale a Friday pole double.

Chaz Mostert slotted into third, with the top three covered by just 0.015s.

The top 18 were covered by less than a second, which was a far cry from the earlier session.

The top seven runners in Race 8 qualifying were covered by less than a second.

It marked Davison’s third pole of 2022, with the veteran also scoring a pole in Tasmania.

Race 6 of the Repco Supercars Championship will be held at 1420 AEST.
