This year’s Repco Bathurst 1000 is one that you cannot miss, and if you have not been to the race, this is THE year because for the final time, Ford and Holden will duke it out for the biggest prize in the sport.
It’s the end of an era. Holden will depart the racing scene, making this the final time that a Holden Commodore will compete on the hallowed 6.213km mountain layout. The brand, and certainly the model, have been synonymous with Bathurst. The Holden Commodore has won the race more than any other, securing 28 victories since its first race (and win) back in 1980.
From 2023, a new era of Supercars will hit the track, with the Chevrolet Camaro replacing the Commodore as the General Motors flagbearer.
But can the Ford Mustang upset Holden’s big farewell?
There’s just no other spectacle like it in Australian motorsport. The sounds, the smell, the history, the triumph, the heartbreak. Mount Panorama delivers this all, plus some, and Repco is incredibly proud to be the title partner of the famous 1000km touring car endurance race.
Repco Bathurst 1000 Event Manager Ryan Jones said thousands of fans have already renewed their camping and grandstand spaces for 2022.
“It’s pleasing to see so many fans have already locked in their spots on the mountain for this year’s event, which in 2022 returns to its traditional October dates,” Jones said.
“We encourage fans planning on heading out to purchase tickets as soon as possible to ensure they are trackside on October 9 to see this year’s King of the Mountain crowned.”
