Only seven seats remain officially up for grabs as the 2022 Repco Supercars Championship grid continues to fill.
James Courtney is the latest driver to confirm his drive for 2022, with Tickford Racing announcing yesterday that the 40-year-old has signed a new two-year deal to remain as a Boost Mobile-backed driver at Victorian team.
Also recently, Scott Pye confirmed that he will stay with Team 18, meaning that the team will remain an unchanged for next year.
One of the big questions remains around Walkinshaw Andretti United. Bryce Fullwood is expected to be replaced by Nick Percat, who has vacated his five-year lead driver role at Brad Jones Racing.
In recent media reports, Jack Le Brocq and Jake Kostecki have been mooted to switch from their 2021 teams, with Le Brocq to leave Tickford and head for Matt Stone Racing, while Kostecki has been linked to take his ride in the Ford team.
If Kostecki goes to Tickford, it would complete the team’s line-up, although Cameron Waters is yet to officially announce that he will stay. Waters’ role at the Ford team beyond 2022 is considered highly likely.
Two places are yet to be locked away for Brad Jones Racing’s four car effort. Jack Smith is the only current driver confirmed to stay, while Andre Heimgartner has secured a place at the Albury-based team, replacing Nick Percat.
Macaulay Jones’ future at the team is unknown, with Bryce Fullwood, among others linked to the seat.
Heimgartner’s vacant seat at Kelly Grove Racing is being touted as a home for 18-year-old Kiwi sensation Matthew Payne, although it would require licensing dispensation from the FIA and Motorsport Australia for the rookie to secure that ride.
See below the drivers that are officially locked away.
