Supercars rookie Aaron Cameron has led the way in the opening practice session at The Bend 500.
In mixed conditions, the Blanchard Racing Team driver set a 1m 50.061s to top the timesheets by 0.028s from Monster Castrol Racing’s Thomas Randle.
Brodie Kostecki for the Shell V-Power Racing Team rounded out a Ford Mustang top three ahead of another in the form of Randle’s teammate Cam Waters.
Another Mustang followed in the form of Penrite Racing’s Matt Payne ahead of the first Chevrolet Camaro of Cam Hill for Supaglass Racing.
Snowy River Racing’s James Courtney was seventh from David Reynolds in the TRADIE Racing Camaro, Mobil 1 Optus Racing driver Chaz Mostert finished ninth and Jack Le Brocq in the lead Erebus Motorsport entry rounded out the top 10.
Mostert’s teammate Ryan Wood just missed the top 10 ahead of the lead Red Bull Ampol Racing entry of Broc Feeney, Jaxon Evans, Anton De Pasquale and Will Davison.
Triple Eight Race Engineering’s Wildcard driver Craig Lowndes was fined after entering pit lane too fast following a moment at the final corner.
