Aaron Seton to sub for Cameron Crick in Townsville

Aaron Seton will replace Cameron Crick in the Matt Stone Racing Wildcard at Townsville.

Crick has been battling illness and was forced to pull out of his planned Wildcard start at Townsville, with Seton filling in as replacement.

Seton has received dispensation from the Supercars Commission to contest the event and provides a great lead-in for the third-generation driver’s enduro drive alongside Zach Bates.

“Naturally, it’s disappointing to step away from the wildcard program, but after discussing with Matt and the team, we agreed that focusing on my health and making sure I’m back in full swing for the Enduros is the right decision.” Crick said.

“I’m incredibly thankful for the support I’ve received from my Partners and everyone at Matt Stone Racing. The team has been fantastic, and while I’ll miss being on track in Townsville, I’ll be working hard behind the scenes and preparing for my return later in the year.”

Seton sent his best wishes to Crick, but is keen to get some extra laps ahead of the Ryco Enduro Cup.

“Obviously the circumstances aren’t ideal and my first thoughts are with Cam. He’s a great mate and a huge part of this team, so I wish him all the best and look forward to seeing him back later in the year.” Seton said.

“From a driving perspective, I’m really excited to get the opportunity to race the wildcard in Townsville. Any chance to gain additional Supercars race experience is valuable, and being able to get an extra event under our belt before Ipswich and the Enduros is something I’m very grateful for.

“We’ve got a really cool livery to unveil as well, which has a lot of personal meaning for my family, so I’m looking forward to sharing that with everyone in the coming weeks.”

Team owner Matt Stone stated he expects Crick to take his place as co-driver to Jack Le Brocq for the Ryco Enduro Cup.

“First and foremost, our priority is making sure Cameron has the time and support he needs to focus on his health. While we’re disappointed he won’t be racing with us in Townsville, we’re fully behind his decision and look forward to seeing him back in the car for Enduros.”

Stone said, “At the same time, we’re excited to give Aaron the opportunity to step into the wildcard program earlier than planned. He’s done a fantastic job with us for a number of years.

“The team has strong momentum behind us at the moment, and we’re looking forward to seeing what we can achieve across all three cars in Townsville.”

The Townsville 500 is on July 10-12.
