A sublime lap by Shell V-Power Racing Team’s Brodie Kostecki has delivered his second Boost Mobile Pole Position Award for the event at the Townsville 500.
In a repeat of Friday’s poor qualifying performance, both Red Bull Ampol Racing Ford Mustangs failed to make the Top 10 Shootout and no Chevrolets were featured also.
Kostecki was the penultimate driver out and set a 1m 12.662s to beat Thomas Randle’s benchmark by 0.234s.
The Monster Castrol Racing Mustang of Randle starts from third after Matt Payne set the second fastest time.
Lining up alongside Randle will be the first Toyota GR Supra of Mobil 1 Truck Assist Racing’s Ryan Wood, while Friday’s race winner Cam Waters lines up fifth for Monster Castrol Racing beside the Blahst LIQUI MOLY Racing Mustang of Aaron Cameron.
Kai Allen is seventh in the second Penrite Racing Mustang, with James Golding of the Blanchard Racing Team, Mobil 1 Optus Racing’s Chaz Mostert and rookie Rylan Gray completed the top 10.
Anton De Pasquale was the first of the Chevrolets in 11th ahead of Red Bull Ampol Racing’s Will Brown, Zach Bates, Jackson Walls and Cooper Murray.
Broc Feeney will start from 18th.
Race 21 of the 2026 Repco Supercars Championship is due to start at 3:05pm AEST.
