Beverley and Robert Brock to present Peter Brock Trophy to Great Race winners

Repco has invited Beverley and Robert Brock to hand over the Peter Brock Trophy to the winners of the 2021 Repco Bathurst 1000.

Beverley, the former partner of Peter, along with her son Robert, will hand the famous Peter Brock Trophy to The Great Race victors on the podium on Sunday afternoon.

The trophy celebrates the life and success of Peter Brock with this year’s Repco Bathurst 1000 marking the 15th year since the passing of the ‘King of the Mountain’.

Brock tragically lost his life in a rally accident in Western Australia in September 2006, only weeks out from that year’s Bathurst 1000.

The trophy was created in time for the 2006 event, and in a first for the event, the Repco Bathurst 1000 logo features the Peter Brock trophy in it.

Brock won the Bathurst 1000 a record nine times, a feat that has yet to be beaten in the race’s 64-year history.

The Repco Bathurst 1000 will be held this Sunday. The 161 lap race starts at 12:15pm AEDT.

“To have this trophy in Peter’s honour after nine wins, is just amazing,” said Beverley Brock.

“And as a family member, to be able to hand this trophy over to the winners on the day is an honour.

“To be here and see where the race is today is incredible. It takes a lot more than just to be a good driver to win at The Mountain. You have to be so much more, including a great team, and I admire whoever takes it out.

“It’s 15 years since Peter’s passing. It’s a special time, and Robert and I are completely honoured to be in this position.”

“I’m over the moon to be here to present the trophy to the winners of the Repco Bathurst 1000,” said Robert Brock

“I’ve been looking forward to doing something like this for years now.

“I’ve been coming here since I was knee high to so many people. I have fans come up to me and say that they remember me being here as a kid.

“There have been a lot of amazing races, and it has been interesting to see how much the place has changed. The mountain is magical and something special, and I’m looking forward to seeing what’s in store for this year’s Great Race, because it’s always special.”

Wayne Bryant
Executive General Manager, Repco Australia

“At our first Repco Bathurst 1000, we felt it was appropriate to have the Brock family hand over the Peter Brock Trophy,” said Bryant.

“We are humbled that Beverley and Robert are guests of Repco’s at this year’s race, and it will be fantastic to see the champions of The Great Race have the famous trophy handed to them by Bev and Robert.”
