Broc Feeney leads the way ahead of qualifying

Broc Feeney has set the fastest lap in final practice ahead of qualifying for the Sandown 500 as Chevrolet locked out the top three spots.

Will Brown led the way for much of the session on a 1m 08.738s in his Coca-Cola Racing by Erebus Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 until Feeney in his Red Bull Ampol Racing example set a 1m 08.583s to go fastest by 0.156s.

Rounding out the top three Chevrolets was Tim Slade for Nulon Racing, just 0.233s off Feeney’s benchmark.

First Ford Mustang was Cameron Waters for Monster Energy Racing as Tickford Racing teammate Thomas Randle followed in the Castrol Racing entry.

Penrite Racing’s David Reynolds was sixth ahead of James Golding in the Nulon Racing Camaro, Shell V-Power Racing Team’s Will Davison, while Triple Eight Race Engineering’s two remaining Chevrolets of Shane van Gisbergen and Craig Lowndes completed the top 10.

Those to miss the top 10 included Mark Winterbottom, Bryce Fullwood, Chaz Mostert and James Courtney in 13th to 16th, while further back were Anton De Pasquale in 18th, Andre Heimgartner 20th, Nick Percat was 23rd and Brodie Kostecki finished the session 25th.

Next up is qualifying for the Penrite Sandown 500 at 1:40pm AEST before the Top 10 Shootout rounds out the action 5:20pm AEST.
