Broc Feeney leaves New Zealand Supercars title leader

The New Zealand doubleheader proved a success for Broc Feeney, despite failing to take a race victory at either Taupo or Ruapuna.

Due to his consistency, Feeney also had the honour of winning the prestigious JR Memorial Trophy held for the first time during two rounds.

Shell V-Power Racing Team driver Brodie Kostecki did lead the standings heading to Ruapuna, but a clash with reigning champion Chaz Mostert in the closing stages of the final race put pay to retaining his title advantage.

Symmons Plains near Launceston in Tasmania hosts the next round where Feeney will enter with a 23-point margin from Kostecki.

Matt Payne clawed back points following multiple wins in New Zealand to now sit third, a further 23-points behind Kostecki.

A 102-point gap to Cam Waters is next ahead of maiden race winner at Ruapuna Kai Allen, who is 49-points behind the Monster Castrol Racing driver.

Ryan Wood is the first non-Ford driver in sixth, but was on target to be higher in the standings until an engine failure ended his hopes of the JR Memorial Trophy in the Ruapuna finale.

Wood sits two-points behind Allen and is 37 ahead of the first Chevrolet driver, DEWALT Racing’s Anton De Pasquale.

Blanchard Racing Team’s uptake in performance is highlighted by James Golding in eighth, 10-points behind De Pasquale, while Will Brown has snuck into the top 10.

Jack Le Brocq concludes the top 10 positions.

Chaz Mostert, Thomas Randle, Andre Heimgartner, Jayden Ojeda and Cam Hill are just outside.

The historic Symmons Plains circuit hosts the next round of the Repco Supercars Championship on May 22-24.
