Broc Feeney has secured his first pole position of the season for Race 16 of the Repco Supercars Championship at Symmons Plains.
Feeney won out in the Top 10 Shootout to start from pole in the longer 84-lap encounter to complete the Tasmania Super440.
A 51.379s gave Feeney pole ahead of Penrite Racing’s Matt Payne by 0.067s, while Jayden Ojeda scored his best qualifying result so far in his rookie season.
The PremiAir Racing rookie will share the second row with DEWALT Racing’s Anton De Pasquale, while behind was Shell V-Power Racing Team’s Brodie Kostecki is fifth alongside the second Red Bull Ampol Racing Mustang of Will Brown.
Kai Allen was seventh for Penrite Racing from Mobil 1 Truck Assist Racing’s Ryan Wood, the sole Monster Castrol Racing entry of Thomas Randle and Aaron Cameron in the LIQUIMOLY Blahst Racing Ford after being disqualified following an award incident with De Pasquale in qualifying.
Leading the way of drivers not making the Shootout was Cooper Murray, while others included Rylan Gray, Cam Waters, David Reynolds, Cam Hill, Zak Bates, Andre Heimgartner and Chaz Mostert in 18th.
The final race of Supercars’ annual trip to Tasmania is due to begin at 2:45pm AEST.
