Broc Feeney secures victory to round out Supercars action in Perth

Red Bull Ampol Racing’s Broc Feeney has taken his second victory of the 2023 Repco Supercars Championship season in Perth, leading from start to finish in Race 9.

Feeney dominated the final race in Western Australia as he held off the Coca-Cola Racing by Erebus duo of Will Brown and Brodie Kostecki during the early stages, with the top three remaining the same throughout the 42-lap encounter.

In a rather straight forward affair, the only bit of major contact was at the end of lap 1 when TRADIE Racing rookie Declan Fraser was spun by Jack Le Brocq at Turn 7 resulting in a 15s penalty for the Truck Assist Racing driver.

David Reynolds continued his run at the front to be fourth in the end for Penrite Racing as Chaz Mostert followed to round the top five in the Optus Mobil 1 Racing Ford Mustang.

Cam Waters transferred teammate James Courtney’s set-up to the Monster Energy Racing Ford Mustang and it paid dividends in sixth ahead of the lead Shell V-Power Racing entry of Will Davison.

After the bad luck in Race 8, Tim Slade was eighth in the Nulon Racing Chevrolet Camaro ahead of Courtney and Scott Pye in his Team18 entry.

Following on from his disappointing qualifying performance in 21st, Shane van Gisbergen made steady progress to 12th leaping in front of Nick Percat, Todd Hazelwood, Anton De Pasquale and Cam Hill.

Brad Jones Racing continued to have a rough run in Perth as its lead championship contender Andre Heimgartner was 22nd, just behind teammates Jack Smith and Macauley Jones.

Kostecki leaves Perth with an extended 100-point advantage in the title race from Mostert and 156 back to van Gisbergen.

The next round for the Repco Supercars Championship will be at Symmons Plains for the Tasmania SuperSprint on May 19-21.
