Broc Feeney has taken the bragging rights after a shortened qualifying session ahead of the final event of the Repco Supercars Championship season at the VAILO Adelaide 500.
The Red Bull Ampol Racing driver set the pace at a 1m 19.546s to be last in the Top 10 Shootout, but Race 23 pole-sitter Cam Waters was second fastest just 0.040s off Feeney’s pace.
However, the session ended prematurely when Jaxon Evans became the latest victim of Turn 8 when he clipped the inside kerb and bounced off both sides of the concrete.
The Brad Jones Racing crew has set to work attempting to repair prior to Race 24.
Behind the lead pair, Ryan Wood will aim to end his debut season on a high after placing third in the Mobil 1 Truck Assist Racing Mustang, just ahead of teammate Chaz Mostert.
Championship winner Will Brown was fifth from Castrol Monster Racing’s Thomas Randle and Shell V-Power Racing Team’s Will Davison.
Outgoing champion Brodie Kostecki was eighth in the Erebus Motorsport Camaro from Bendix Racing’s Nick Percat after he clashed early in the session with Wood.
First to go out for the Top 10 Shootout will be Shell V-Power Racing Team’s Anton De Pasquale in his last start for the team.
Penrite Racing’s Matt Payne is from 11th after his fastest lap came when the red flag came out as David Reynolds, Mark Winterbottom and James Courtney were among those to miss.
The Top 10 Shootout is at 12:35pm local time.
