Broc Feeney wins Repco Sprint Cup title, Finals positions remain undecided

Queensland Raceway hosted a close finale to the Repco Sprint Cup, which fell in favour of defending winner Broc Feeney following an engine failure ending Matt Payne’s chances.

The Penrite Racing driver led the standings by more than 100-points leading into the final race at Ipswich, but an engine failure dropped Payne out of the fight.

Feeney was there to pick up the pieces and took full advantage by taking victory in Race 29 ahead of the Ryco Enduro Cup.

By winning the Repco Sprint Cup, Feeney has locked in an automatic Finals spot alongside the top five due to their accumulation of points.

Joining Feeney are Payne, Brodie Kostecki, Cam Waters and Kai Allen as those to confirm Finals.

Kostecki moved into third after a reasonably solid haul of points in Queensland, with the fight for the last Finals spot a see-sawing affair.

James Golding was fifth in Race 29 and dropped Jack L:e Brocq out of the final spot to the tune of 55-points.

Thomas Randle, Andre Heimgartner, Jayden Ojeda and David Reynolds all lost ground in the fight for the Finals.

Walkinshaw TWG Racing drivers Chaz Mostert and Ryan Wood are slowly being caught by those at the back end of the top 10, with Wood just 170-points ahead of Golding.

If the Toyota’s reliability problems aren’t sorted by The Bend, it may mean Wood is fighting for Finals survival at Bathurst.
