Brodie Kostecki and Ryan Wood share Ruapuna Saturday poles

Shell V-Power Racing Team’s Brodie Kostecki will start the Saturday’s opening race at Ruapuna on pole, while Ryan Wood has again put his Mobil 1 Truck Assist Racing Toyota GR Supra in the prime position for the second.

Mustangs dominated the first session where Kostecki set a 1m 21.033s to lead Penrite Racing’s Matt Payne, the LIQUIMOLY Blahst Racing entry of Aaron Cameron, Kai Allen and Red Bull Ampol Racing’s Broc Feeney.

Wood was the first non-Ford in sixth ahead of Blanchard Racing Team’s James Golding, the R&J batteries Racing Supra of Andre Heimgartner and Jayden Ojeda in his best qualifying result so far in his rookie campaign at PremiAir Racing.

Cam Waters, Cam Hill, Thomas Randle, Chaz Mostert and Declan Fraser were up next just outside the top 10, with Anton De Pasquale well down in 17th and Team 18 stablemate David Reynolds was further back in 21st.

For the second session, it was Wood setting a 1m 21.094s to head Payne, Kostecki, Allen and a recovering De Pasquale.

Feeney was up next followed by Golding, Cameron, Matt Stone Racing’s Jack Le Brocq and Ojeda repeating his previous best.

Heimgartner just missed out on the 10 as did Waters, Rylan Gray, Jobe Stewart and Mostert.

Back in 16th was Brown, while Hill placed 20th and Reynolds was back in 23rd.

The opening 120km race in Ruapuna is scheduled for 12:45pm NZST/10:45am AEST.
