This time it was Erebus Motorsport, Chevrolet and Brodie Kostecki taking pole position for the second leg of the Boost Mobile Gold Coast 500.
A 1m 10.315s lap did the job for Kostecki in the Top 10 Shootout to better Will brown’s previous benchmark by 0.283s.
Kostecki was sixth to run in the Top 10 Shootout, but a kerb strike for Mobil 1 Truck Assist Racing’s Ryan Wood ruled his lap time void.
Then Red Bull Ampol Racing’s Broc Feeney, Cam Waters for Monster Castrol Racing and Penrite Racing’s Matt Payne failed to eclipse Kostecki’s mark.
Erebus Motorsport will have two Chevrolet Camaro ZL1s at the front as Jack le Brocq qualified third alongside Mobil 1 Optus Racing’s Chaz Mostert.
Feeney, Payne and Waters fill out the next positions from Richie Stanaway, PremiAir Nulon Racing’s James Golding, with Wood rounding out the top 10.
Yesterday’s runner up Thomas Randle will start from 11th after hitting the tyre wall in qualifying exiting Turn 3, while Anton De Pasquale accrued a kerb stroke on his fast lap.
Andre Heimgartner in the R&J Batteries Racing Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 was another to hit trouble by causing a red flag when he became stuck in the Turn 11 tyre wall during the session.
Race 22 of the Repco Supercars Championship on the God Coast is scheduled to start at 2:15pm AEST.
