Brodie Kostecki to miss Sunday action

Shell V-Power Racing Team will install Todd Hazelwood in its lead Ford Mustang as replacement for Brodie Kostecki for Sunday’s action in Darwin.

The 2023 Supercars champion has been fighting a virus during the weekend and experienced tough conditions in Saturday’s event following a malfunction to his drinks system.

Kostecki was sent to the medical centre after the race and will not take part win Sunday’s schedule due to ‘lingering after effects’ as stated by Dick Johnson Racing.

“Brodie was assessed by Supercars Medical Delegate Dr Carl Le this morning following the virus and dehydration that caused him to be taken to the medical centre after finishing in third place in Saturday’s Race 18,” read DJR’s statement.

“Although he received clearance to drive from that issue, lingering after effects have rendered him unable to participate in the rest of the weekend.

“Shell V-Power Racing Team endurance co-driver Todd Hazelwood will drive Car 17 in Kostecki’s place in qualifying and Race 19.”

Hazelwood has previously filled in for Kostecki at the opening two Supercars rounds in 2024.

Thomas Randle also visited the medical centre after a reported cool suit failure, but has recovered to take his place on the grid.
