Another piece in the silly season puzzle has fallen into place after Bryce Fullwood confirmed he will join Brad Jones Racing for the 2022 Repco Supercars Championship.
The 2019 Super2 Series champion debuted in the Repco Supercars Championship last year with Walkinshaw Andretti United, securing a maiden podium at The Bend I.
Fullwood’s 2021 season started strongly at Bathurst when he finished sixth in the opening race of the championship, but he has been unable to sustain this to currently place 15th in the standings.
The Territorian joins Andre Heimgartner as new signings at BJR for 2022 after Nick Percat confirmed his departure in August, followed by Todd Hazelwood’s move to reunite with Matt Stone Racing last week.
“Brad has always been a big supporter of mine right the way back to go kart days and I’m stoked to be able to race with Brad and the team at BJR,” Fullwood said.
“I love the way the team goes about their business; they’re all hardcore racing people with a hell of a lot of passion for what they do and I’m looking forward to getting stuck into it with them.
“I’m very thankful for the opportunity and looking forward to a new chapter for me moving forwards.
“The future is looking exciting for the team and I’m super happy to be a part of it”.
Team owner Brad Jones is confident Fullwood can add to his podium tally at BJR.
“It’s a very exciting time for the team with Bryce coming on board,” Jones said. “He’s shown some strong potential and is still in the early days of his Supercar career, so I feel like with the right guidance he’ll be a strong podium contender in the future.
“Bryce is very personable, and I feel like he’ll fit in well with the team and our partners. We’ve got a few changes happening as we transition in 2022 and I’m looking forward to what’s ahead”.
Percat and Hazelwood are not the only departures from BJR as head engineer Andrew Edwards will join Triple Eight Race Engineering to team with Shane van Gisbergen next season, replacing Kelly Grove Racing bound David Cauchi.
Fullwood’s confirmation leaves five seats still unofficially announced for the 2022 Repco Supercars Championship. Two remain at BJR, but it is predicted Macauley Jones and Jack Smith will remain, Nick Percat is expected to replace Fullwood at WAU, while Jack Le Brocq is favourite to partner Hazelwood at Matt Stone Racing.
Kelly Grove Racing is yet to confirm the teammate to David Reynolds, though the squad has lodged a Superlicence application for Matt Payne.
