Cam Waters reigns supreme in Townsville Top 10 Shootout

Monster Castrol Racing’s Cam Waters has reigned supreme in Townsville after scoring Boost Mobile Pole Position following the Top 10 Shootout for Race 22.

Waters was eighth out in the Top 10 Shootout and set a 1m 12.564s to defeat Ryan Wood’s then benchmark by 0.276s.

Brodie Kostecki was up next and fell 0.209s short before pole position was confirmed when Matt Payne was 0.269s off the mark.

Waters will share the row with Kostecki’s Shell V-Power Racing Team Mustang, while Repco Sprint Cup leader Payne sits third alongside the Mobil 1 Truck Assist Racing Toyota GR Supra of Wood.

Kai Allen started first in the Shootout and climbed to fifth to be on the third row with Chaz Mostert.

Broc Feeney made the first appearance of a Red Bull Ampol Racing Mustang in a Top 10 Shootout this weekend to be seventh from Thomas Randle, Andre Heimgatner and Jayden Ojeda.

In contrast to Feeney’s position, teammate Will Brown is 19th, while David Reynolds, Aaron Cameron, Anton De Pasquale, Zach Bates and Jack Le Brocq just missed a Shootout berth in the earlier qualifying session.

Race 22 of the Repco Supercars Championship is scheduled for 3:05pm AEST.
