Cam Waters takes pole for Adelaide opener

Supercars’ fastest driver Cam Waters has struck again, taking Boost Mobile Pole for today’s race at the VAILO Adelaide 500.

It is Waters’ seventh pole of the 2024 Repco Supercars Championship season and second on the streets of Adelaide.

Waters has also now sealed the Boost Mobile Pole Award for season 2024, which includes the Gold Helmet a $25,000 prize from Boost Mobile.

The Mildura native won the Saturday race in Adelaide last year, a win today will be his fifth of 2024 which would be a career-best in a season.

Waters’ Tickford Racing teammate Thomas Randle qualified second in the Boost Mobile Top Ten Shootout, coming just three weeks after the pair finished 1-2 on the streets of the Gold Coast in late October.

Championship leader Will Brown will start fifth, while teammate Broc Feeney – the only driver mathematically able to overtake Brown for the championship – will start third.

Last year’s Adelaide Sunday race winner Matt Payne will start fourth, while Perth-born rookie Aaron Love will start a career-best sixth following his first Top Ten Shootout.

Race 23 of the 2024 Repco Supercars Championship starts at 3:20 p.m. ACDT.
Brown carries a 180-point advantage over Feeney, and will clinch the championship if that lead is over 150 at the end of today’s race.
