Monster Energy Racing’s Cameron Waters will start Race 33 of the Repco Supercars Championship in Adelaide from pole after a mixed up Top 10 Shootout as Chaz Mostert missed the mark.
Entering as the fastest driver, Mostert was off the mark during his lap as he dropped to eighth on the grid.
There was early drama for Tickford Racing as it hurriedly repaired Thomas Randle’s Castrol Mustang after its practice crash at Turn 8. The team just missed the deadline to have the entry out for the Top 10 Shootout, so Randle will still start from 10th.
A 1m 19.371s got the job done for Waters as alongside is Team18’s Scott Pye in his best display of the season, with the Tickford Racing driver bettering his time by 0.343s.
Forming the second row is Penrite Racing’s David Reynolds, with Anton De Pasquale from the Shell V-Power Racing Team making it an all-Ford affair.
James Courtney continued his affinity with Adelaide to be fifth for Tickford Racing ahead of the R&J Batteries Brad Jones Racing ZB Commodore of Andre Heimgartner.
James Golding made another Top 10 Shootout appearance in the Subway PremiAir Racing ZB Commodore to line up seventh alongside Mostert.
Todd Hazelwood will share the fifth row in his second last event for Matt Stone Racing with Randle.
UPDATE: David Reynolds will be disqualified due to a rear wing height infringement and therefore will be sent to the final row of the grid.
