Chaz Mostert finishes final practice session fastest

Mobil 1 Optus Racing’s Chaz Mostert has led into the Top 10 Shootout in perfect form after finishing fastest in the final Repco Supercars practice session in Adelaide.

Clocking a 1m 18.857s, Mostert led fellow Holden driver Andre Heimgartner by 0.162s in the R&J Batteries Brad Jones Racing entry, while James Courtney continued his run up the front to be third in the lead Tickford Racing Falcon, just a further 0.004s in arears.

Shane van Gisbergen recovered from his qualifying mistake yesterday to place his Red Bull Ampol Racing ZB Commodore in fourth, while Thomas Randle was on the pace again in fifth, but severely damaged his Castrol Racing Ford Mustang after hitting the outside wall at Turn 8. Tickford Racing completed a miraculous job in completing the repairs prior to the Top 10 Shootout.

Monster Energy racing’s Cameron Waters was sixth from Team18 driver Scott Pye, David Reynolds in the lead Penrite Racing Ford Mustang, the Boost Mobile Racing by Erebus entry of Will Brown and Macauley Jones completed the top 10 in his Brad Jones Racing ZB Commodore.

Brown was one of many drivers to make a mistake in qualifying yesterday and starts 16th.

Another to qualify lowly was Nick Percat, though he displayed improvement by finishing 11th in the session.

Joining Percat outside the top 10 were Lee Holdsworth, Anton De Pasquale, Broc Feeney, Will Davison, Brodie Kostecki and James Golding.

The Top 10 Shootout is about to start.
