Construction of Newcastle street circuit almost complete

The build of the Newcastle street circuit is almost complete ahead of one of the most anticipated Repco Supercars Championship openers of all time.

With less than a week before the teams bump in to the venue to begin their pre-event set ups, the picturesque town is now full of concrete-lined streets, tyre bundles, catch-fencing and grandstands to accomodate the huge crowds that are being predicted for the three-day event.

Check out the image gallery below. Glorious Newcastle sunshine, a city full of activity and a sense that something cool is about to happen.

Right now, the city of Newcastle is abuzz with action. While the road closures might create some stress for local residents and shop owners, the payback will come when their town is full of guests from Australia and around the world, with fans keen to see history made, thanks to the new Gen3 regulations.

This event marks the dawn of a new era. The new Ford Mustangs and Chevrolet Camaro look and sound like better than any Supercar before, and with the late push to get all of the team’s cars ready for Newcastle, any form guide that you might have is probably worth less than the piece of paper it’s written on.

Throw in the tight, turbulent nature of the Newcastle street track and it’s a receipt for awesome viewing.

Not only will the new Gen3 Repco Supercars be on track, look out for a horde of other on and off track activity.

The Dunlop Super2 and Super3 Series cars will be the main support act, where the stars of tomorrow are given their chances on the big stage.

Also on the support card are the ever-popular Touring Car Masters and Aussie Racing Cars. Big, loud V8s, plus pint-sized micro racers … the best of both worlds!

Off track you’ll find the Repco Garage, offering some of the best views of the circuit – free for all fans! Inside The Garage, look out for amazing games and prizes, including the Repco Pit Stop Challenge, as well as the awesome Repco Fleet. And you might even see a new car in the line-up in 2023 …
