David Reynolds completes Team 18 Friday sweep at Sandown

Team 18 has ended the opening day at the Penrite Oil Sandown 500 at the top of the timesheets through David Reynolds in the TRADIE Racing Chevrolet Camaro ZL1.

After stablemate Anton De Pasquale in the DEWALT Racing Chev set the pace in the opening practice session, Reynolds backed up Team 18’s pace in the second to set a 1m 08.522s.

Finalist Chaz Mostert was 0.066s off Reynolds pace in the Mobil 1 Optus Racing Ford to make up one of three Mustangs inside the top 10.

De Pasquale was third ahead of Broc Feeney in the lead Red Bull Ampol Racing Camaro, PremiAir Racing’s James Golding, rookie Cooper Murray for Erebus Motorsport and Will Brown completed the brace of Chevs.

Breaking the streak was Cam Waters for Monster Castrol Racing as Cam Hill for Sherrin Rentals Racing and Ryan Wood in the Mobil 1 Truck Assist Racing Mustang completed the top 10.

James Courtney and full-time debutant Jayden Ojeda finished ahead of finalist Thomas Randle, with Penrite Racing’s pair of contenders further back. Matt Payne was 15th and Kai Allen was next.

In a close session, 0.881s covered the first 23 entries.

Qualifying, Top 10 Shootout and the opening 250km leg make up Saturday’s schedule beginning at 11:50am AEDT.
