Double delight for Brodie Kostecki at Symmons Plains

Qualifying for Races 11 and 12 ended in the same result as Repco Supercars Championship leader Brodie Kostecki has placed his Coca-Cola Racing by Erebus Chevrolet Camaro on pole for both events.

Many drivers were hampered by each other as the stacking towards the end of the sessions, particularly Monster Energy Racing’s Cam Waters as he collided with both Shell V-Power Racing Team Mustangs in each segment. First, Waters hit the rear of Anton De Pasquale during the Race 11 session, then he attempted a pass on Will Davison ended badly for both in qualifying for Race 12.

Kostecki topped the session with a 50.833s to head Red Bull Ampol Racing’s Broc Feeney by 0.002s as Will Brown led the two Truck Assist Racing’s Jack Le Brocq and Cameron Hill to complete a Camaro top five.

Nulon Racing’s James Golding was ahead of the first Ford Mustang of Davison ahead the Castrol Racing Ford of Thomas Randle, David Reynolds of Penrite Racing and Waters.

Title contender Shane van Gisbergen will start 11th ahead of Tim Slade, Chaz Mostert, Nick Percat, James Courtney, De Pasquale and Andre Heimgartner.

A 50.621s lap did the job for Kostecki as teammate Brown was 0.018 off his mark, with Waters despite his collision finished the session third.

Le Brocq continued his fine form in fourth ahead of Slade, Feeney, Hill, Randle, van Gisbergen and DEWALT Racing’s Mark Winterbottom.

Again, Mostert missed the top 10, with teammate Percat in 14th from Heimgartner, Golding, De Pasquale, Reynolds, Courtney and Davison in 23rd.

Race 11 begins at 1:05pm AEST.
