It was double delight for Penrite Racing’s Matt Payne after scoring both Boost Mobile Pole Position Awards for Races 23 and 24.
Ford continued to dominate the front spots as Payne on the soft tyre compound set a 54.048s to score Race 23 pole by 0.037s clear of Monster Castrol Racing’s Cam Waters, with his teammate Thomas Randle in third.
First non-Ford was the Mobil 1 Truck Assist Racing Toyota GR Supra of Ryan Wood, but from there it was two Mustangs with Kai Allen and Brodie Kostecki for the Shell V-Power Racing Team.
A Toyota was up next in seventh courtesy of the R&J Batteries Racing Supra of Andre Heimgartner as rookie Rylan Gray qualified inside the top 10 for the second time this season.
Once again it was Anton De Pasquale leading the Chevrolet Camaro challenge in the DEWALT Racing entry in ninth ahead of Brad Jones Racing’s Cam Hill to make it three Toyotas inside the 10.
Chaz Mostert led those outside the top 10, which included Red Bull Ampol Racing duo Will Brown and Broc Feeney, Finals contender Jack Le Brocq, and veteran David Reynolds.
There were two red flags during the session due to drivers catching up to slow traffic as Jobe Stewart failed to take part for the remainder of qualifying after an incident at the final corner with Wood.
Zach Bates was the first to go off at Turn 1 leading to a heavily interrupted session.
Sticking on the super soft tyres for the next session, Payne still rose to the top on a 54.066s by being 0.218s ahead of Feeney in what maybe the beginning of a Red Bull Ampol Racing comeback.
Allen was right with his teammate in third ahead of Randle, Mostert, Heimgartner, Kostecki, Waters, Gray and De Pasquale.
Wood was just outside the top 10 10 alongside Brown, Declan Fraser, James Golding, Le Brocq and Jayden Ojeda.
Race 23 of the 2026 Repco Supercars Championship is scheduled for 12:45pm AWST/2:45pm AEST.
