Grove Racing latest to reveal Gen3 entries

The two Penrite-backed Grove Racing Ford Mustangs David Reynolds and rookie Matt Payne will drive in this year’s Repco Supercars Championship have been revealed.

Reynolds will embark on his third season at the Braeside-based squad, while Payne will make kickstart his maiden season at Newcastle, but has been part of Grove Racing’s driver development program for the last few seasons racing and winning in Super2.

This season is a landmark for the team in its second under full ownership by the Grove family comprised of Stephen and Brenton. In addition to this, it’s the first time the team has constructed its own cars under this regime led by Team Principal Dave Cauchi after previously utilising the previous Kelly Racing Mustangs.

“The launch of our Gen3 Mustang liveries marks a significant milestone for our team and category,” Team Owner Stephen Grove stated.

“It’s always exciting to see the design concept when it presents on a render, but to see it come to life on our Gen3s is something quite special.

“The team have done a fantastic job getting them prepared, from the engineers and mechanics to the commercial team, and it’s a testament to their continued commitment during what has been a challenging period with the Gen3 build.”

Meanwhile Cauchi believes the team is in a good position to elevate itself to become a consistent frontrunner in 2023.

“The cars look fantastic; I am immensely proud of the team for the work they have put in over the past few months to get them to this point,” said Cauchi

“There is still work to be done as we look ahead to our upcoming test days, but I believe we will be in a position to build upon the results we obtained in 2022.”

Grove Racing made the headlines prior to Christmas when it acquired the services of reigning Bathurst winning co-driver Garth Tander for this year in a shock move.

Testing plans have not been totally confirmed, however the release stated it will be ‘conducting pre-season testing at Winton Motor Raceway through to mid-February before holding a fan day just prior to the opening round at Newcastle on March 4.

The Repco Supercars Championship season is set to start on the streets of Newcastle on March 10-12.
