For the first time in nearly 40-years, the Holden Dealer Team will appear at Bathurst as part the Team Valvoline GRM Wildcard entry.
The storied brand was just recently revealed to have been purchased by prominent businessman Kenny Habul ahead of a planned announcement regarding the future direction of the famed moniker on October 12.
HDT will adorn the front guard of the GRM Wildcard Chevrolet Camaro, which will contest this year’s race marking the team’s first Repco Supercars Championship start since 2020 and will sport a tribute livery celebrating its 2000 Great Race success.
Rookie Nathan Herne will join the experienced James Moffat, who’s father Allan was an arch rival to the HDT throughout the 1970s and early-1980s before joining the team in 1986 to partner Peter Brock for the Australian endurance events, in addition to select European races.
“Growing up in the 1970’s you either loved Brock or Moffat,” said GRM director Barry Rogers. “In my case it was Brock and it was because of how cool the HDT logo was.
“I remember drawing pictures of race cars at kindergarten, all adorned with the HDT logo. I am tremendously proud, as I know that Dad would be to have HDT supporting GRM at Bathurst.”
The HDT returns to a circuit it grew its revered reputation at after winning nine Bathurst endurance events of which eight were won by Brock.
“HDT and Garry Rogers Motorsport are two great Australian motorsport names with enormous history at Mount Panorama,” said a HDT spokesman.
“Bringing the brands together for the Repco Bathurst 1000 feels incredibly fitting, and we’re proud to be part of GRM’s wildcard campaign at Australia’s greatest race.”
A successful two-day test was recently completed by the team at Winton as a shakedown prior to the Repco Bathurst 1000 on October 8-11.
