Historic Brabham Cars with Sam Brabham

While at the famous Mt Panorama Circuit at Bathurst, Aaron Noonan walks through the National Motor Racing Museum as he talks with Sam Brabham about some of the vehicles his grandfather, Sir Jack Brabham, raced outside of the Formula one championship. They look at the very first vehicle Jack raced which is a speed car from the 40s, it started off as Johnny Shonberg’s car, Johnny fell ill on race day so Jack jumped behind the wheel and steered it for a bit. while Showing his talent and enjoying the sport jack continued to race from then on.

Sam and Aaron then head over to the Repco V8 Powered L34 Option Torana that Jack shared the seat with Sir Sterling Moss at the infamous Bathurst Hardie Ferodo 1000 in the mid 70s, this car is very well known, but for the wrong reasons. On the start line the Torana failed to launch and it was stuck at the grid… then all of a sudden BAM! A triumph dolomite smashed into the back of the car! fans were livid, so the team worked hard to try and get the car back on the track, which they managed to do, however, on lap 36 the car blew a motor. It was really unfortunate but the car lives on in restored condition. Take a look inside the amazing race history that runs through the Brabham family.
