Jack Le Brocq snatches pole Race 14 in Townsville

Jack Le Brocq has celebrated his birthday in style by securing his and Erebus Motorsport’s first pole of the season ahead of Race 14 in Townsville.

Slippery conditions contributed to tough conditions as many drivers complained of a lack of grip, but it was Le Brocq setting a 1m 14.246s to seal pole ahead of Monster Castrol Racing’s Cameron Waters and James Courtney in the Snowy River Caravans Mustang.

The veteran made the biggest gain after being first to go out in the Top 10 Shootout as he will line-up alongside former teammate Thomas Randle in the second Monster Castrol Racing Mustang on the second row.

Shell V-Power Racing Team’s Will Davison was fifth, with Broc Feeney again the sole Red Bull Ampol Racing Camaro to make the Shootout to share the third row.

Anton De Pasquale will line up seven from Mobil 1 Optus Racing’s Chaz Mostert reigning champion Brodie Kostecki and Penrite Racing’s Matt Payne completing the 10.

After starting 13th yesterday, championship leader Will Brown went backwards and will start 17th.

Andre Heimgartner, Nick Percat, Mark Winterbottom and David Reynolds are ahead of Brown.

Race 14 of the season completes the Repco Supercars Championship’s annual trip to Townsville at 2:40pm AEST.
