In anticipation of the upcoming Repco Adelaide Motorsport Festival, two of the world’s most exotic brands and rarest offerings cruised the streets of the City of Churches.
A Jaguar R2 and Bugatti Bolide took to the streets to announce each will appear at the Repco Adelaide Motorsport Festival.
The Jaguar was one of the brand’s Formula 1 entries and arrived on the scene when the top-tier of motorsport used screaming V10 engines, with this being a 3.0-litre Cosworth unit producing 800bhp at 18,000 rpm.
Raced in 2001 by Pedro de la Rosa in the Hungarian, Belgian, Italian, US and Japanese Grands Prix, the Spaniard scored a best result of fifth at Monza.
Helping further solidify Mark Webber as a rising star in Formula 1, the Jaguar squad was deemed a failure for parent company Ford and it pulled out at the end of the 2004 season.
Subsequently purchased by Austrian energy drink company Red Bull, it has proven a dominant force with Sebastian Vettel and Max Verstappen during the past 20 years.
Australians Webber and Daniel Ricciardo contributed to the success of the team at different times.
The Bugatti is one of 40 Bolides built in the world and is the ultimate track-only hypercar.
Since being unveiled as a concept in 2020, the Bolide follows on from the Veyron and Chiron in placing Bugatti as one of the premiere exotic car manufacturers in the world.
Powered by Bugatti’s now trademark quad-turbocharged W16, which will be retired after this model ensures the Bolide has a staggering power-to-weight ratio of 0.91 kg/kW.
Producing 1361 kW and 2000Nm of torque, this beast is one to behold at the event.
The Repco Adelaide Motorsport Festival will behold on March 8-9.
