Tool manufacturer Stanley Black & Decker has announced a continuation of its partnership with Team 18 to a fifth season.
However there will be a change as Mark Winterbottom will switch from IRWIN to the DEWALT brand for the first season of the Gen3 era as the veteran will race a Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 in 2023.
Stanley Black & Decker first took on naming rights in 2019 when Winterbottom joined the team after a long career at Tickford Racing and the world’s largest toolmaker has continued this association since.
“It’s great for the team to continue our journey with Stanley Black and Decker in 2023 and going forwards into the Gen3 era of the Supercars Championship,” said Winterbottom.
“I can’t wait to see the new DEWALT Racing Camaro hit the track next year.
“Our preparation for Gen 3 has been ongoing for a while, but it’s really ramped up after the season finished in Adelaide as new parts arrive on the door every day.
“It was good for us to work our way into the top ten of the championship by the end of the year, but Gen3 is a full reset for the championship and a whole new approach to driving a Supercar.
“We’ll be working as hard as we can to capitalise on the fresh start in the new year and be a contender in 2023.”
Team 18 Team Owner, Charlie Schwerkolt stated his excitement to continuing the partnership with Stanley Black & Decker into the Gen3 era.
“The partnership between Stanley Black & Decker and Team 18 is the combination of two teams who share the same drive for innovation and performance,” Schwerkolt explained.
“We are incredibly proud to continue our partnership with a leading global organisation in Stanley Black & Decker, ever since their first involvement with Sidchrome in 2018.
“We are looking forward to continuing to work together as we enter an exciting new phase for the Supercars Championship next year.”
Switching to another brand within its portfolio, the continued partnership will include trackside events and fan activations through the ‘DEWALT Guaranteed Tough Truck’.
“Stanley Black & Decker have partnered with Team 18 since 2018 and we are excited to announce the continuation of our involvement for the 2023 Supercars season with the DEWALT brand,” said Adrian Davis, Managing Director ANZ, Stanley Black & Decker.
“This sponsorship gives us the platform to interact with our end users and build exciting activations with our retail partners across the country and we have a lot planned for 2023”
“DEWALT is one of the most recognised and popular power tool brands in the world and the association with Team 18 and Supercars is a great opportunity to engage in a fun and supercharged atmosphere.”
Team 18 is hard at work building its two Chevrolet Camaro ZL1s ahead of the 2023 Repco Supercars Championship starting in Newcastle on March 10-12.
