The new F1 movie starring Brad Pitt has released its first teaser recently during the British Grand Prix.
A bidding war commenced for an untitled film to star Pitt, with director Joseph Kosinski, screenwriter Ehren Kruger and producer Jerry Bruckheimer from Top Gun: Maverick.
The film is about veteran Sonny Hayes (Pitt) returning to the grid after racing in the 1990s to act as a mentor to a young teammate at Expensify Apex Grand Prix.
Apple won the bidding war and thus will distribute the film alongside Warner Bros. Pictures, which will handle the theatrical release.
Joining Kosinski, Kruger and Bruckheimer in the production staff will be Claudio Miranda as cinematographer, with Hans Zimmer handling the score.
Starring alongside Pitt in the film will be Damson Idris as young rookie sensation and Hayes’ teammate Joshua ‘Noah’ Pearce, Javier Bardem as AXGP Team Principal Ruben, while Kerry Condon and Tobias Menzies feature as key characters as well.
Current drivers Max Verstappen, Carlos Sainz, Sergio Perez, Fernando Alonso and Lewis Hamilton, who has been a consultant for the film are all said to appear.
Pitt and Idris tested open-wheel Formula machinery at Paul Ricard in preparation of filming conducted at last year’s British Grand Prix in a Formula 2 chassis covered in Formula 1 aero.
Filming continued at the Hungaroring, Circuit de Spa-Francorchamps, Monza, Zandvoort, Suzuka, Autodromo Hermanos Rodriguez, Las Vegas and Yas Marina, with additional scenes shot during the 2024 24 Hours of Daytona in a Porsche 911 GT3 R.
Due to be released in June next year, check out the first preview below.
