New title sponsor for Adelaide

The Repco Supercars Championship’s concluding event in Adelaide has been completely rebranded following the change from 500 to Grand Final and now a new naming rights partner in BP.

The BP Adelaide Grand Final will host the conclusion to Supercars’ new finals format as a four-driver shootout will decide the title.

BP is already a major partner of the Repco Supercars Championship and will extend this to Adelaide, replacing previous title sponsor VAILO after it entered receivership last month.

In addition to the rebrand, an extra 100km race on Friday has been added to the traditional 250km events held across Saturday and Sunday.

Previous to VAILO, Clipsal held the rights for 17-years between 2000 to 2017 before Superloop took over for just the 2018 edition. The event didn’t have a naming rights partner in 2019, with VAILO taking on the role in 2020 until last year minus the year the event didn’t run.

“The Adelaide 500 has always had pride of place on the national motorsport calendar, but the advent of the BP Adelaide Grand Final will take that to the next level,” said SA Premier Peter Malinauskas.

“The fact that BP is partnering with the South Australian Motorsport Board speaks to the event’s stature.

“BP is a high quality, global brand with massive reach and will be actively promoting the event to its huge national customer base.

“That means more people coming to South Australia to pay witness to the best Supercars event in the country.

“The event will only get better, with the new format of the BP Adelaide Grand Final ensuring that we play host to the season decider every year.”

The Supercars’ fuel supplier, BP recently acquired the X Convenience brand through South Australian and Western Australia equating to a network of more than 50 sites across both states.

To celebrate the announcement, BP Rewards members from all over Australia will have pre-sale access to limited four-day grandstand tickets on the BPme app until sales have exhausted.

“We’re waving the green flag in the Festival State this year,” said Paul Augé, Senior Vice President, BP Australia and NZ.

“We started by expanding our fuel network through X Convenience and now we’re bringing BP to the biggest motorsport event in the country; the BP Adelaide Grand Final.

“In the five years we’ve partnered with Supercars, we’ve achieved a lot on and off the track. Now, we’re entering a new era with the BP Adelaide Grand Final.”

The BP Adelaide Grand Final will be held on November 27-30.
