Pole for Shane van Gisbergen for Race 32

It was a case of going one better for Shane van Gisbergen on the Gold Coast as he finished the Top 10 Shootout fastest ahead of Race 32 this afternoon.

Last driver out after securing provisional pole, van Gisbergen in the Red Bull Ampol Racing Team ZB Commodore set a 1m 10.313s to better the benchmark set by Will Davison to the tune of 0.323s.

The Shell V-Power Racing Team Ford Mustang was the second last entry out after improving on Cameron Waters time by 0.073s, with the Monster Energy Racing driver losing time respective to his two rivals in the final sector.

Mobil 1 Optus Racing’s Chaz Mostert will start fourth alongside Waters just like yesterday as Scott Pye set the fifth best time in Alspec ZB Commodore from Brodie Kostecki for Boost Mobile Racing by Erebus.

Polesitter from yesterday David Reynolds made a mistake through the back chicane to be eighth in the Penrite Ford Mustang, with Thomas Randle to line up alongside in his Castrol Racing example.

Rounding out the top 10, James Golding in the Subway PremiAir Racing ZB Commodore lines up alongside Anton De Pasquale as the latter slid wide at Turn 11, just saving the Shell V-Power Racing Team Mustang from colliding with the fence.

The final 250km encounter on the Gold Coast begins at 2:15pm AEST (3:15pm AEDT).
