PremiAir Racing splits with Garry Jacobson

PremiAir Racing has announced this afternoon after much speculation driver Garry Jacobson will leave the team effective immediately.

It comes after a tough weekend in Darwin where the former Super2 Series champion was involved in various incidents across the weekend, including Tickford Racing’s James Courtney in Race 2 and his Wildcard teammate in the final event.

A statement released by PremiAir Racing read:

“PremiAir Racing wishes to confirm that effective immediately, Garry Jacobson and PremiAir Racing have parted ways.

“Jacobson’s contract has been officially ended this afternoon (21 June 2022), and PremiAir Racing is exploring its options regarding a replacement driver for the #76 Subway PremiAir Racing Supercar.

“Announcements regarding the new driver for the #76 will be made at the earliest possible opportunity.

“PremiAir Racing will be making no further comment regarding Garry’s departure and wishes him well for his future endeavours.”

Favourites to drive the Subway-backed PremiAir Racing ZB Commodore are Tickford Racing endurance drivers Zane Goddard and Kurt Kostecki.

Goddard completed a test at Queensland Raceway with the team recently and was impressive during his maiden Supercars season last year at Matt Stone Racing as budget hampered his chances of returning to the grid this year.
